Marketing, Audiovisual and Artistic Production, and Gaming

The marketing and audiovisual production industries are some of the industries that have experienced the greatest development and growth in recent years in the province of Córdoba.

Advertising and marketing are fundamental for the development of the value proposition of companies and for their successful insertion in the market, due to the direct impact they have on sales. Thus, the promotion of agencies and consulting firms in this sector is of particular interest to the province, which is materialized in a series of policies and actions that encourage the consolidation of this type of enterprises.

As for audiovisual production, the sector is driven by a network of highly qualified professionals and production companies with a solid track record. In addition, 2016 saw the enactment of Provincial Act 10381, which created the Córdoba Audiovisual Hub under the Ministry of Industry which, together with the Córdoba Culture Agency, brings together the two natural dimensions of the activity.

The Audiovisual Hub implements the Audiovisual Content Promotion Plan, which includes incentives for co-productions and the promotion of employment in audiovisual advertising production.

Córdoba has been the home of national and international audiovisual productions that have been recognized and distinguished with different awards in the industry.

On the other hand, the video games, robotics and eSports sector is another industry with a promising future, whose leading role is played by a number of developers exporting content. Currently, companies in this sector are concentrating on technological design and video games focused on gamification as leisure and also as an educational channel.

The Government of the Province of Córdoba promotes this industry through the eSports Córdoba project, which aims to strengthen and consolidate this community, generate athletes trained in Córdoba and cooperate with development companies, which are a source of high quality professional work for the province.

Language, Academic and Medical Tourism

Spanish is the third most spoken language in the world. It is also the official language of 20 countries and the mother tongue of nearly 400 million people, and another 50 million learn it as a second language. In the European Union, it is the most studied foreign language. In Brazil, its teaching is booming and, in 2010, Spanish instruction became compulsory at the secondary school level.

Argentina welcomes around 1.5 million non-Spanish-speaking tourists per year. Of this total, some 50,000 foreigners come to our country every year to improve their Spanish. Most of them are professionals and university students between 22 and 40 years of age.

The Province of Córdoba is among people's top choices when it comes to training professionals, due to its quality and prestige. Thus, language tourism is growing in Córdoba, thanks to the wide academic offer and the efforts made for this sector to develop and grow.

The province has 12 institutes for teaching Spanish as a foreign language, including the cultural departments of the different universities. Since 2008, with the aim of promoting the service sector, ProCórdoba and the Córdoba Tourism Agency have been promoting the study of Spanish as a foreign language in the province's institutes through different actions.

On the other hand, Córdoba is the third destination chosen by foreigners who come to the country for medical or health tourism. This type of industry is characterized by the fact that it is not seasonal, i.e. it is distributed throughout the year and throughout the territory. More than 20 percent of the revenue comes from hotels, leisure activities and tourism agencies.

The highly developed health infrastructure, the excellence of the medical centers, the availability of prestigious medical professionals, the application of state-of-the-art technology, personalized services and the proximity to tourist and cultural attractions make Córdoba the perfect destination for medical tourism.

Among the most sought-after medical practices are traumatology, cardiology, liposuctions, bariatric surgery, dentistry/ophthalmology, breast implants, abdominoplasties, weight management/medical check-ups and transplants.

Meeting Tourism

Meeting Tourism is the segment that encompasses the visits of tourists attending Congresses, Conventions, Fairs, Exhibitions, Incentive Trips and International Sports Events. In the last few years, this tourism sector has become the fastest growing worldwide.

In the case of the Province of Córdoba, the Córdoba Tourism Agency together with the Córdoba Convention & Visitors Bureau, which brings together private sector organizers and suppliers of services and events, are working hard to promote the destination as a venue for events.

2019 was the fifth year in a row that saw Córdoba positioned as the first Meeting Tourism destination in the interior of the country, according to the ranking published yearly by the International Congress and Convention Association.

According to the ICCA ranking, Córdoba ranks 210th out of 960 cities worldwide, above destinations such as Doha (Qatar), Las Vegas (USA), Mérida (Mexico), Durban (South Africa), San Sebastian (Spain) and Havana (Cuba), among others.

At the Latin American level, it reached 15th place in 2019 among 45 cities, beating Viña del Mar and Valparaíso (Chile), Punta del Este (Uruguay), Salvador de Bahía and Brasilia (Brazil), and Santa Cruz (Bolivia).
